Avoiding Gun Accidents in Michigan: Protecting Your Children
In light of this last week’s tragic news stories involving gun related injuries, we would like to write about gun safety and ways to avoid gun accidents in Michigan, especially to protect the future of this great country, our children.
Safely securing your firearms significantly reduces the likelihood of your children finding them.
- Keep guns far beyond a child’s reach
- Always have the safety set when your gun is being stored
- Utilize gun locks or cabinets that have locks to avoid any unauthorized use of your firearm
Talk to your children about gun safety. Children need to know that guns are dangerous, and by educating them, in the unlikely instance that they find a gun, then they will know to leave the gun alone and tell a responsible adult immediately.
Michigan gun accidents affect communities at large. Did you know that in 2010, guns were the 3rd leading cause of injury next to poisoning and motor vehicle accidents?
Our firm wants to raise awareness outside of the gun debate. We use our blog as a place to reduce the very incidents that we often defend, and not as a place to debate the legality of guns in this country.
We’ve represented individuals in gun related injuries, which is a type of negligence claim, and we are compassionate for families whom are affected and tough on those who’ve hurt them.
