30 Rock and Saturday Night Live star Tracy Morgan has been struggling with injuries resulting from a six-car accident involving a Walmart truck driver on the New Jersey Turnpike in June 2014. Comedian James McNair was killed in the accident, two others were injured, and Morgan was left with broken ribs, a broken nose, and a broken leg. The truck accident occurred when Walmart truck driver Kevin Roper was speeding and swerved into Morgan’s limousine bus to avoid hitting slow moving traffic ahead of him, causing a six car pile-up.

Morgan and other injured parties filed lawsuits against Walmart in July, claiming the company was negligent by having a truck driver on the road who had been awake for over 24 hours. The lawsuit alleges that the accident was a result of Roper falling asleep at the wheel.

Walmart responded to the lawsuit on September 29th and 30th, saying they are not responsible for Morgan’s injuries since he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Morgan issued a statement in response saying, “After I heard what Walmart said in court, I felt I had to speak out. I can’t believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident they caused. My friends and I were doing nothing wrong.”
