Hundreds of King Bio Products Recalled
If you use natural homeopathic products as an alternative to treat ailments or issues in yourself or your pet, be sure to check your cupboards and shelves to see if you have any products manufactured by King Bio.
Shortly after recalling 32 homeopathic products intended for children, King Bio announced a larger voluntary recall of all their water-based products, including products made for children, adults, and pets. The expanded recall includes products from several different brands produced by King Bio, including Natural Pet, Natural Medicines, Aquaflora, Natural Vet, People’s Best, and SafeCareRX. Some of the products included in the recall are intended to help with a wide range of problems, such as stress levels, coughing, acne, allergies, asthma, and fevers. Some of the products are liquids, but others are nasal gels, creams, and lotions. A full list of recalled products can be found on the King Bio website, along with their lot numbers and UPC code numbers.
Homeopathic products do not require FDA approval before becoming available to consumers and the FDA has long been skeptical of claims made by homeopathic products. However, this recall is unrelated to claims over the effectiveness of their products. Instead, it was because of concerns over the safety of their manufacturing facilities. During an inspection of King Bio’s facilities, evidence was found showing recurring microbial contamination in the water system used to manufacture products. Several microbial contaminants were also found in their products. Infants, children, pregnant women, and immunocompromised individuals in particular are at the highest risk for developing a serious infection as a result of the contamination. Pets are also at a high risk for developing infections.
In a statement, the FDA said, “These unapproved drugs may cause significant and even irreparable harm if they are poorly manufactured, which can lead to contamination.” No illnesses or infections have been reported as a result of using these King Bio products and the recall is purely a precautionary measure. If you have used any of these products and later developed health complications, see a doctor right away. If you’ve developed an infection after using King Bio products, you can also contact a defective product lawyer to find out what your legal options are.
