Goodwin & Scieszka Attorneys Included in 2019 Super Lawyers Lists

It’s not always easy to find a good lawyer. There are so many different types of lawyers out there and even once you get down into looking at lawyers who specialize in a certain area, you might have so many options to choose from that it’s hard to find one you can really trust.

Super Lawyers is a service that tries to make it easier for people to find high-quality lawyers. Every year, they publish lists of lawyers who have been nominated by their peers in recognition of their outstanding career achievements. While they publish lists featuring the top 100 all-around lawyers in each state, they also publish lists of lawyers who specialize in specific practice areas and in handling certain types of cases.

The 2019 Super Lawyers lists for Michigan have recently been released and we’re very excited to announce that attorneys from Goodwin & Scieszka are included in this year’s lists. Scott Goodwin is on the Top 100: 2019 Michigan Super Lawyers list for his work representing plaintiffs in personal injury and medical malpractice cases.

There are a lot of personal injury lawyers practicing in the state of Michigan, but it’s important to note that Scott Goodwin is one of the few lawyers in this year’s Top 100 Super Lawyers list who handles the kinds of personal injury cases that he does. We all know those personal injury lawyers who constantly have commercials running on television and have huge billboards up all over town. But as you look through this year’s Top 100 list for Michigan, you won’t see the names of those lawyers. That’s because Super Lawyers lists recognize lawyers who get results and help make a difference, not who has the biggest budgets for advertising.

James Scieszka is also included in Michigan’s 2019 Super Lawyers lists as part of the Personal Injury: General list. He’s been selected to Super Lawyers since 2006 and not only does he work with plaintiffs in general personal injury cases, he also works with plaintiffs in cases involving defective products and claimants in workers’ compensation cases.

Gary Safir was also included on the Personal Injury: General list for Michigan in 2019, but he was also given a very special distinction: being included in the Michigan Rising Stars list for 2019. The Super Lawyers Rising Stars lists recognize young attorneys and attorneys who have been practicing for less than 10 years who are already accomplishing great things. While the main Super Lawyers list recognizes no more than 5% of all attorneys in each state, the Rising Stars list recognizes no more than 2.5% of attorneys in each state.

Super Lawyers uses a multiphase nomination and evaluation process to help to create a fair and independent list that the general public can trust. Steps are taken to prevent people from gaming the system by trying to do things like campaign for nominations or by groups of lawyers all agreeing to vote a certain way. Once the nominations have been made, an independent research team looks into indicators of professional achievement, such as verdicts/settlements, experience, honors/awards, special licenses/certifications, and more.
